Easy ways to make your hair look fuller
Invest in your hair they say, it is the crown you never take off. We couldn’t agree more. Good hair equals good days. Period. Nothing makes a woman look more gorgeous than a head full of thick, voluminous hair. But, with hectic lifestyles, rising pollution and little time to devote to our tresses, hairfall and thinning hair are becoming more common than ever. Here’s what you need to do to reverse the situation and make your hair look fuller and thicker without following a grueling hair care regime. Read on.
Switch your hair part
The easiest thing to do when you want to add some immediate volume to your mane is to change the parting. When you part your hair to one side always, it ends up staying flat. The change in parting will prevent that from happening and you can further enhance the volume by adding some hair texture sprays at the roots of your hair. Alternatively, opt for a hairstyle that does not require a parting like a teased bun or a back-brushed ponytail.
Use mousse on damp hair
Mousse may have earned itself a bad reputation for creating a stiff texture in your hair, but believe it, it is still a great weapon to add volume to limp and flat hair when done right. Here’s what you need to do. Take a dollop or egg size quantity of hair mousse. Now massage it gently through your strands, roots to ends, and then blow dry your hair. Voila! Volume decoded!
Condition before shampoo
You heard that right, reverse your hair wash routine to build volume in your hair. Conditioner makes your hair sleek but can make thin hair look flatter. When you reverse the routine though, the conditioner makes your strands smooth and soft and more ready to hold the volume that the consequent shampooing will add to your hair.
Use rollers to get bouncy hair
Hair rollers are life savers. Take the hair on your crown and pull it up in three or four Velcro or plastic rollers. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then lightly comb through your hair with your fingers. You will have the big bouncy hair you always wanted. Make it stay by spritzing on some hair spray in the roots of your hair.
Blow dry your hair upside down
An old trick of the book but always works, when drying or blow-drying your hair, put your head down and then work the heat through the roots to the mane. Finish off by brushing through with a round brush. Your mane will definitely look much more voluminous.
Use baby powder or brown hair powder
Greasy hair looks limp and lustreless. Remedy the situation by applying some baby powder at night and going to sleep with tied hair. Otherwise you can also use brown hair powder in your roots and strands to conceal those annoying bits of scalp showing as well as to take off the oiliness from your hair making it look fresh and bouncy. Here’s a tip, brown hair powder works better on black and brown hair rather than dry shampoo which is a better alternative for light coloured or blonde hair.
Opt for haircuts with layers in medium length
If you have thin hair, length won’t do much for it. Instead opt for haircuts with layers in medium length. If you don’t mind going short with your hair, bobs and blunt hairstyles also give an illusion of more voluminous and fuller hair.
